There’s something extra special about photographing couples in the season right before everything changes — and for Taylor and Mattias, this spring is going to be unforgettable. 💍✨
As a Mission photographer and Fraser Valley wedding photographer, I’m always on the hunt for locations that feel romantic, natural, and a little adventurous… and their engagement session at Norrish Creek was exactly that.
Engagement Photos at Norrish Creek in Mission
If you’ve never been to Norrish Creek, it’s one of Mission’s hidden gems. The river rock beach stretches alongside the creek, with stunning mountain views in every direction. The surrounding forest gives you that peaceful, tucked-away feeling while still offering wide open spaces and dreamy light.
This time of year? Absolute perfection.
In the warmer summer months, Norrish Creek fills up quickly with swimmers and families. But early spring gives you that quiet, intimate vibe — just the sound of the water flowing and the mountains standing tall in the background. It’s hands down one of my favourite spots for engagement sessions in the Fraser Valley.
Taylor & Mattias: Instant Chemistry
Taylor and Mattias were a whole vibe from the start. Some couples take a little time to warm up in front of the camera — not these two. Within minutes, they were laughing, leaning into each other, and completely in their element.
They played around, teased each other, and just felt natural. That kind of connection translates so beautifully on camera. Nothing forced. Nothing stiff. Just real moments and big smiles.
One of my favourite parts of their session? We started a little fire down by the creek. 🔥 There’s something about sitting by a fire that slows everything down. We got to hang out, chat about their wedding plans, and capture some cozy, candid moments while the fire burned low behind them. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like an evening spent with friends — which is exactly how engagement sessions should feel.
Why I Love Choosing a Different Engagement Location
Taylor and Mattias are getting married this spring at Redwoods Golf Course, which is such a beautiful venue. It offers incredible scenery and some amazing all-inclusive options that make planning your wedding day so much smoother.
One thing I always encourage couples to do is choose an engagement session location that’s different from their wedding venue. It helps tell a fuller story. Your wedding day will have its own look and energy — so why not let your engagement photos reflect another side of your relationship?
For Taylor and Mattias, Norrish Creek gave us mountains, water, and that adventurous outdoor feel. Their wedding day at Redwoods will bring elegant golf course views and a completely different vibe. I love that contrast.
Counting Down to Spring
If their engagement session is any indication of what their wedding day will be like, we’re in for something really special. Their connection is effortless, their energy is playful, and they clearly have so much fun together.
I am so excited to celebrate with them this spring and capture the beginning of their next chapter at Redwoods. 💛
If you’re recently engaged and looking for a Mission photographer or Fraser Valley wedding photographer who loves capturing real connection in beautiful outdoor spaces, I would love to chat. Whether it’s along the river at Norrish Creek or somewhere meaningful to you, your engagement session should feel like you.
